About - Home Emergency Relief Organization (HERO)
HERO is a division of Golden Sierra Life Skills, a federally recognized non-profit corporation established in May of 2003.
HERO is committed to supporting our service men and women by providing mini-grants to assist US veterans and their families who are seeking sustainable housing. We also provide options for temporary childcare for veterans pursuing further education and/or permanent employment.
Our dedicated staff members and volunteers strive to provide strength, opportunities and resources to help our veterans face new challenges and reach their full potential.
Community support plays a vital role in our ability to deliver necessary quality services to our veterans and their dependents. Currently HERO is serving US vets and their families in Placer and surrounding counties.
HERO participates in a variety of fundraising events to obtain revenue to assist vets and their families in resolving their immediate financial needs.
The services that HERO provides through our mini-grant process for qualifying applicants are: Rent/1st and last month – applies to new rentals for applicants who have the ability to sustain future payments. Back Rent – based on the ability of the applicant to sustain future payments. Payment of short-term childcare - for qualifying veterans in need of assistance while attending school or pursing employment opportunities. Housing Stipends - short-term limited assistance for Veterans attending college on the GI Bill to assist during non-paid semester breaks.
HERO is seeking opportunities to integrate and join forces with those who are looking to embrace the growing need to assist those who so proudly served our country.
